The craft of blacksmith is known from ancient times.
The artifacts made of copper which was found during the archaeologycal escavations in the coast of the river of Zarafshan. This is the real proof of this craft. And this kind of craft was the most popular one in Bukhara.”Blacksmith workshop” was founded in XVI century during the reign of the Shaybanid’s dynasty and a lot of traders were coming to Bukhara for making a business. In the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX century Blacksmith craftsmen were gathering in the streets of Amiri, Suzangaron, Muhammadyor Otalik and Magoki Kurpa the streets were located in the far corner of the city.In 1991 18th January with the decision of peoples deputy of Bukhara in place of the mosque “Zabuda” there was organised the musem of “Blacksmith workshop”.
Later in 1992 in December in order to enlarge the museum and fulfill the exhibition with artifacts the museum was moved to “Kulyuta” caravan sarai. Nowadays the blacksmith craftsmen’s 5th and 6th generation still work in the museum and workshop. In the exhibition there are 86 artifacts and employers are planning to enlarge the museum.
