Sitorai Mokhi-Khossa

Welcome to the Decorative-Applied Art Museum !



4 km to the north of Bukhara there is a remarkable Summer Palace of the last Bukhara rulers - Sitorai Mokhi Khossa. The old palace was built in the 2nd half of the 19th  century by emir Mir Sayyid Ahadkhan, the father of last Bukhara. The construction of the new palace proceeded in the reign of the last ruler Sayyid Alim-khan from 1912 to 1918. 

The complex Sitorai Mokhi Khossa consists from 3 parts:

The Main building (1912-1914 yy).
The Palace furniture of the 19th -20th  centuries, Chinese and Japanese porcelain of the 14th – 20th  centuries, palace objects of fine art from Russia, jewels of the well-known Bukhara masters, gold-embroidery panel and horse-blankets are exhibited here.

The Octagonal pavilion ( guest-house)
In the center of the garden there is the octagonal pavilion which served as a guest-house of the palace. In the pavilion «The clothes of Bukharians of late 19th  - early 20th  centuries» are exhibited. The collection of palace gold-embroidery clothes, belts, scarf and foot-wear are presented here.

Harem (1917 y.)
In southern part of the garden the third building of the palace representing a two-stored private residence made of brick with the glazed greenhouse, pavilion and reservoir on opposite, covered with grey Gazgan marble is located.
In the pavilion the exhibition of «Bukhara artistic embroidery and household utensils of late 19th  - early 20th  centuries » is presented.
